Inspiring the Next Generation for cruise at Sandbach High School & Sixth Form

ree

I had the absolute pleasure of spending time at Sandbach High School & Sixth Form, speaking with students and teachers about a world many of them had never truly considered before: life at sea.

The energy, the culture, the adventure, and the community that make working on cruise ships such a transformative chapter in so many people’s lives.

Exploring Life at Sea: More Than a Job, It’s a Journey

During our conversations, we explored every corner of cruise life across multiple departments, with a big focus on retail — a space bursting with opportunities for personal and professional growth. We talked about:

  • Travelling the world while building your career

  • Making friendships that genuinely feel like family

  • Expanding your horizons and seeing life from a completely new perspective

  • Developing invaluable skills that simply don’t exist in a classroom

What struck me most was the curiosity. The thoughtful questions. The genuine spark in the room.

Keeping It Authentic

Of course, no real conversation about ship life is complete without talking about the crew bar, crew drills, and the behind-the-scenes moments that make onboard life unforgettable. It got a good laugh — and it also made everything feel relatable and real.

A Big Thank You

A huge thank you to Sandbach High School & Sixth Form for welcoming me in today. It was inspiring to see so many young people open to exploring the world, growing their skills, and dreaming big.

If even one of them steps onto a ship one day because of today’s conversation — that’s the magic of what we do at the Cruise Retail Academy.
