The Cruise Retail Academy team is here to support you at every step of your journey onboard. We know the industry, we know the people and we know the expectations. It is highly important to us that you are able to trust us with your journey onboard.​ To do this, we aim to ensure that we provide you the best possible service, and therefore we ensure that we conform to the highest possible standards as set by the MLC (Maritime Labour Convention).

With over 30 years experience in the cruise industry, we are committed to ensure that we operate to the highest possible standards and that we have sufficient knowledge of all requirements to achieve sufficient standards.
NO RECRUITMENT FEES
We will not charge you any agency or recruitment or placement fees for using our services to gain employment onboard cruise ships.
We transparently provide details of costs that will be borne by seafarers on our Requirements page.
In addition to this, we offer the vast majority of our training materials and services to our members free of charge through our E-Academy.

HIGH STANDARDS
We only work with operating companies that we are confident offer the highest standards of employment to their teams.
We transparently will outline the costs of embarkation and job expectations for each of our partner companies at the dedicated web pages that we host for each of them. Before selecting the company, all our candidates will have the choice to select the operating company which most appeals to them.

We maintain an ongoing dialogue with all our candidates to make sure that there onboard journey is as positive as possible. We are confident that people using the Cruise Retail Academy will not be subject to exploitation onboard.

We ensure that all our candidates meet a minimum age of 21 years old to be able to use Cruise Retail Academy services.
​
We ensure that candidates are sent their terms and conditions of employment before joining their ship. We also make ourselves fully available to answer any questions or concerns that candidates have before they join a ship.
​
We fully represent the needs of our candidates with onboard concessionaire partners to ensure that they are not liable for any unexpected financial losses. We will ensure compliance with all aspects of the MLC 2006 Convention, including but not limited to Standard A1.4 para 5(c)(vi) in respect to Insurance Arrangements

WE KEEP RECORDS
We use a best-in-class CRM database to ensure we keep records of all seafarers who apply for jobs with us for at least 1 year ensuring we meet GDPR standards in terms of data protection. We maintain accurate records of all seafarers who have applied for work with us.

We operate a clear and transparent privacy policy to ensure that all candidate's data and information is maintained to the highest standard in accordance with UK GDPR standards of data protection.

SUITABILITY & VERIFICATION
We conduct online interviews with all our candidates and ask them always to have their video on so we can verify their eligibility. We validate that their language skills are sufficient to be considered by the employer.
​
We also use the latest AI software to ensure that candidates are suitably experienced, qualified and able for the position that they are applying to, before we refer them to the prospective employer.
​
We also seek relevant references, appraisals or recommendations to validate any experience that has been claimed.
​
We ask all candidates to provide a copy of their passport and ensure that they have a minimum of 12 months remaining before expiration.
​
We ensure that the concessionaire partners for whom we are representing provide employment contracts that are applicable with relevant maritime standards, and also are duly able to protect their employees in foreign ports.
